Peterson Closet Works

Why Does Every Kids' Clothes Hunt Feel Like an Archaeological Dig?

The pajamas are somewhere. Maybe in that pile. Or that drawer. Wait, are they in the laundry again? Meanwhile, your child is late for school, you're late for work, and the floor looks like a clothing store exploded.

Those adorable baby clothes you folded so carefully? Now crammed into drawers that won't close. The nursery you designed with such care? Overrun by tiny socks, burp cloths you can never find, and mystery stains on mystery items.

The toys? Don't even get started on the toys.

Peterson Closet Works creates kids closet systems and nursery closet solutions that actually survive childhood. Organization that grows with your children. Storage that teaches independence. Spaces where "clean up your room" doesn't trigger World War III.

The Real Cost of Chaotic Kids' Closets

  • The Morning Battle: Every day starts with struggle. Can't find the favorite shirt. Lost the matching shoe. Where are the clean socks? Breakfast gets skipped. School starts late. Everyone's stressed before 8 AM.
  • The Wasted Money: You buy duplicate clothes because you forgot what you already own. Outgrown items hide unused until they don't fit. Hand-me-downs get ruined in storage chaos.
  • The Lost Time: Twenty minutes finding the ballet shoes. Thirty minutes searching for the baseball glove. Hours reorganizing the same closet that's messy again tomorrow.
  • The Safety Hazards: Unstable piles waiting to topple. Dresser drawers climbed like ladders. Sharp edges on poorly placed furniture. Small items underfoot becoming trip hazards.
  • The Teaching Moment Missed: Chaotic spaces teach children chaos is normal. You want them learning organization, independence, and responsibility. But how can they organize what makes no sense?
  • The Sibling Conflicts: "That's mine!" "No, it's mine!" When nothing has a designated place, everything becomes disputed territory.
  • The Growth Problem: That nursery furniture? Doesn't adapt as baby becomes toddler becomes child. You're replacing instead of adjusting. Starting over instead of evolving.

Your family deserves systems that actually work.

Kids’ Closet & Nursery Organization

What Happens When Kids' Organization Finally Makes Sense?

peterson closet works kids walk in closet design
  • Independence blooms. Children dress themselves because finding clothes is easy. Toddlers choose their outfits from accessible options. School-age kids pack their own backpacks from organized supplies.
  • Mornings transform. Five minutes to get dressed instead of twenty-five. Everyone leaves on time. Stress levels plummet. Breakfast actually happens.
  • Learning happens naturally. Kids absorb organizational skills without lectures. Putting things away becomes automatic. Life skills develop through daily practice.
  • Money stops disappearing. You see what you own. You use what you have. You buy what you actually need. Hand-me-downs stay organized and ready.
  • Safety improves dramatically. No precarious piles. No climbing hazards. Age-appropriate storage at safe heights. Sharp edges eliminated. Small items contained.
  • Siblings cooperate better. Each child has designated space. Boundaries are physical, not theoretical. "Mine" and "yours" are clearly defined.
  • Space grows with them. Nursery closet systems adapt from onesies to school uniforms. Kids closet solutions adjust from toddler to teen without replacement.
  • Peace enters the home. Clean-up takes minutes, not hours. Chores become possible. Your child's room stops being your stress trigger.

The Magic of Age-Appropriate Design

Here's what most parents miss: adult closet systems don't work for children. That rod at adult height? Useless for a five-year-old. Those deep shelves? Black holes for tiny clothes. That sophisticated organization? Incomprehensible to a child's mind.

Children need their space designed for their size, their reach, their cognitive development, and their chaotic enthusiasm.

Three-year-olds need bins they can see into and lift. Seven-year-olds need hooks they can reach and drawers they can open. Twelve-year-olds need systems that reflect their growing independence and complexity.

We design kids closet systems that make sense to the humans actually using them.

I adore the PCW team. We embarked on a complete renovation project over a year ago and the install is finally nearing completion. We could not be more excited to move in and finally put to use our kitchen, pantry, and primary bathroom cabinetry. They are stunning works of fine craftsmanship. Dave, Rod and the whole install team worked with me on some unique colors and layouts and their patience with my revisions was impressive. I can't wait to tell guests to our home who did our cabinetry.

Contacted PCW Cabinets as we were in the process of remodeling a majority of our home and looking for a whole new kitchen. Met with Dave and Rod and were immediately blown away by the quality of the product and the way in which they both spoke about their cabinets.

Once we decided to go with them, it was full speed ahead. Rod came out for measurements and completed design ideas. Adjustments were made and finalized. Within weeks our cabinets were built and on site. Shortly after, they were installed and doors/drawer fronts removed for finishing.
Finishing took a little longer than expected but here is why. Dave had a finishing company that was not doing work to his standard. After several issues, a new company was hired and the work was completed at 100%. This speaks volumes to how Dave is as an owner. He was not satisfied with the quality of work and would not accept anything less than perfect.

We are so happy that we went with PCW Cabinets. The workmanship and quality are far beyond what you will get almost anywhere else. Every cabinet in our kitchen was custom made for the space and we really can't say enough good things about the employees they have, like Rod (design), Mike (installation), and David (project manager). Thank you! - Kara & John

My husband and I did a massive remodel on our home and Dave at PCW custom cabinetry did our entire kitchen and Butler’s pantry and laundry room and even a closet in our guest bedroom. We are extremely happy with the way everything turned out it looks absolutely gorgeous. His communication and work ethic was outstanding. It was nice to feel like we could design everything together and collaborate to complete our dream kitchen. We would highly, highly recommend him, and we will be using him in our near future on other homes in projects.

Dave / PCW just completed cabinets in the entire house for our custom home build. We started talking with Dave about 18 months ago. He went above and beyond to make our visions come to life. We love everything about our cabinets - the custom colors and gorgeous white oak, the custom hood with inset shelves, and all of the little touches like roll out drawers, baking sheet dividers, paper towel holder, hot tools drawer insert…the list goes on. Dave was right on schedule and worked very hard to make everything exactly how we wanted it. We get so many compliments on our cabinetry. His entire team was so friendly and helpful too. Highly recommend.
